Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water

“There, alone in the world, overcome by disappointment at the destruction of all his vain hopes, a prey to profound disgust for all human beings, filled with hatred of the civilized world, he realized the wreck of his fortune, assembled some score of his most faithful companions, and one day disappeared, leaving no trace behind.”

Nadia:The Secret of Blue Water was originally a Japanese graphic novel, but was eventually produced into a television series that ran from 1990 to 1991. The series was based on Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Captain Nemo's explorations. The show focuses on two main storylines. The first storyline involves Nadia, an orphaned Kenyan girl who possesses a jewel pendant called "Blue Water." Joined by her orphan friends Jean and Marie, Nadia searches for the secret of "Blue Water" and her own origins. Pursuing the "Blue Water" pendant is the Grandis Gang, a three-man group of jewel thieves. The second storyline focuses on the joining of forces between Nadia's group and the Grandis Gang with Captain Nemo, who comes to their aid. Alongside Nemo aboard the Super Sea Cruiser Nautilus, they combat the Neo-Atlantean forces, led by Gargoyle, preventing their attempts at world domination.
